Troubleshoot issues with scanning your website or registering for Seona

Updated over a week ago

If you encounter any issues while onboarding onto Seona, don’t worry! Here is an easy guide on how to work through any issues you encounter:

Registration Issues

We only allow one Seona project per domain, so if you try to register a project with a domain that has already been claimed by a Seona user, you will see the following:

If you want to transfer the ownership of the site to you, you can contact our support team and we will take care of that for you.

Site Scanning Issues

If you get one of these errors when scanning your site, these are the reasons:

Domain could not be located

The domain you inputted could not be visited. Try inputting the scanned URL into a web browser to verify this. If your website is hosted on a different subdomain, make sure your base domain reroutes to the correct subdomain.

Website blocking Seona

Your website is blocking Seona from visiting, this is most likely due to a security provider such as Cloudflare or Incapsula. See these instructions on how to prevent this.

Website does not support HTTPS

The domain you entered is not secure, and is only hosted through HTTP, not HTTPS. This is crucial for your website to appear on search engines like Google, and requires a valid SSL certificate.

Website took too long to load

Your website took too long to load, and our servers timed out when attempting to visit it. Make sure you website page load speed is reasonable.

Failed to analyze website

Our servers may be down at this time. Please try again in a few minutes.
